India Tourism Industry to boost during 2010 Commonwealth Games

India’s tourism industry is anxiously looking forward for the Commonwealth Games (DELHI) as the foreign tourists who are coming to India in 2010, will be mainly dependent upon them for the travel itineraries, hotel reservations, flight bookings, visa etc. It is believed that more than 2 million foreign tourists and 4.5 million domestic tourists are likely to arrive in Delhi on the eve of the commonwealth games.

Commonwealth Games is the additional opportunity for the tour agents to gain additional business by offering special tour packages to the athletes and tourists visiting New Delhi and attract them to Taj Mahal, one of the ‘Seven Wonders of the World’.

The Government of India in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism and Archaeological Survey Of India (ASI) has plans to launch special programme ‘Discover India in CWG 2010′ and for same must they are supposed to organize road shows in Australia, South Africa, US, Singapore, Canada, Mauritius etc. as tourists arrival in India is expected to be more from these countries.

Since the Common Wealth Games are scheduled to be held in the India’s capital city – Delhi, the government has come up the new development plans to change the look and feel of the city, for the better. Further the new project have come up to discover new heritage, religious, adventurous tourists sites in the northern states of India bordering Delhi including the Punjab, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Rajasthan.

All the athletes would be offered free accommodation, security, a pollution free environment, free transportation and entertainment options for the non competition times. They will be offered a free trip to the famed Taj Mahal – the ‘Seventh Wonder of the World’ clubbed with the other heritage sites such as the Fort, Fatehpur Sikri, Sikandra Itmad-ul-Daulah’s Tomb, Chini Ka Rauza, Ram Bagh, Soami Bagh / Dayal Bagh and many more.

Apart from that other major tourists spots in India including the Shimla, Jhansi, Kerala Backwaters, Goa beaches, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Rajasthan Forts and Palces, Dehradun, Haridwar, Ranikhet, Himlayas, Punjab etc are likely to attract large number of foreign tourists in the year 2010.

Medical and Ayurvedic sectors will also be equally beneficiary during the commonwealth games in view of India’s popularity in ancient tradition of yoga and Ayurveda and the availability of low cost medical treatments in India.
