A presentation by Steven Boyan, Ph.D.. The environmental community argues, correctly, that global climate change is the most serious threat to planet earth. Environmentalists suggest many ways that individuals can reduce their carbon emissions, from buying hybrid cars to using water saving showerheads. But rarely do environmentalists urge people to do what would have the greatest impact on global warming: to become vegan. In this talk Dr. Stephen Boyan will explain why this is so. He will also discuss other dire impacts animal agriculture has on the planet — all of which can be fought with a green diet. Stephen Boyan received his AB from Brown University and his Ph.D. from the University of Chicago. He is co-author, with William Ophuls, of Ecology and the Politics of Scarcity, Revisited. As a professor of Political Science at the University of Maryland Baltimore County he taught courses in the environment and public policy. Today he is retired and on the Executive Committee of the Vermont Sierra Club and represents Vermont in the national Council of Club Leaders Filming and editing by Dr William Harris MD on November 11, 2006 at McCoy Pavilion, Ala Moana Beach Park, Honolulu, Hawaii Sponsored by: Vegetarian Society of Hawaii www.vsh.org
