Delhi commonwealth 2010 games are the nineteenth common wealth games. Common wealth games are a multinational sports event. It is organized after every four year. Delhi 2010 games are commencing from 3rd October and will continue till 14th October.

This is for the first time that common wealth games are being organize in India. The capital city is getting prepared to gratify Delhi commonwealth 2010 players and athletes. The opening and closing ceremony will be held at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Delhi.

City’s development has advanced a lot. The new terminal at the Indira Gandhi International Airport will become operational soon. It has been expanded, modernized and upgraded. New airport terminal will boost tourism and will make Delhi a focal point for international tourist.

The network of Delhi metro has also expanded a lot. It will also continue to expand to all venues of commonwealth games. This project has also created many job opportunities. Metro has also become one of the most preferred modes of transport.

Delhi is also planning to introduce 2000 low floor buses. This would make traveling by public transport a pleasant experience. Add to that new over-bridges and flyovers will make traveling hassle free. Road-widening projects have also begun. Also to improve the traffic on existing roads, efforts are being made to make inner and outer ring road signal free.

Transport development and upgrading of many old structures will beautify the city.

Many hotels are being built around the vicinity of commonwealth stadium to give Delhi common wealth games players and athletes more comforts and benefits.

Delhi commonwealth 2010 games will add to the prestige of the host city and India. It would attract large number of tourist in the country. This would help in generating more revenue from tourism.

Delhi’s power-generation capacity is being augmented. This would also solve the electricity problem in Delhi.

Common wealth games will also bring in economic boost. It has been estimated by the study of Price Waterhouse Cooper that India’s GDP will increase by $4500 million.

All these projects have created as many as two and a half million job opportunities.

Commonwealth Games include Archery, Aquatics, Athletics, Badminton, Boxing, Cycling, Gymnastics, Hockey, Lawn Bowls, Netball, Rugby 7s, Shooting, Squash, Table Tennis, Tennis, Weightlifting and Wrestling championship. All these sports will be organized at different venues. Therefore Delhi would also improve the infrastructure of these sports venue. More number of seats are being built to provide comforts to the spectators.

Thus in long run all these projects would bring many benefits though in short run it may seem to be costly.

As we all know that upcoming Commonwealth Games are going to be organized by our city i.e. Delhi. This will really make an impact on Real Estates whether it is Hotel Industry or the flats constructed by private builders or DDA. East Delhi will be more benefited among all other parts.

The DDA disclosed its sample hotel flat (s) for the Commonwealth Games 2010. The flats that are meant to buffer the shortage of accommodation for tourists that the city may face during the Games, has been handed over to the Ministry Of Tourism in March 2010. Furnishing these rooms at an estimated cost of about Rs 100 crores, there would be 2709 flats with 5009 rooms in Vasant Kunj ready before the Games. Flats in different categories are to be upgraded and furnished at par with three stars standard by the Indian Tourism Development Corporation. Besides Vasant Kunj flats, there are 330 flats at Jasola, which could be used for domestic budget travelers, supporting staff and volunteers of the Games. The tourism ministry is monitoring the requirement for accommodation for the forthcoming Commonwealth Games. The flats incidentally would be later sold off by the DDA as part of its housing scheme once the Games are over.

Apart from these facilities to buffer the shortage of rooms’ government has launched a scheme for the people to register part of their residential property for paying guests on bed and breakfast basis. In East Delhi, prices of 2-room apartments have escalated from Rs. 20-40 lakhs to Rs. 40-75 lakhs. The countdown to the commonwealth games will see further dramatic changes in this part of Delhi.

Be it upcoming Commonwealth Games or the recently conducted sealing drive, everything today seems to make an impact on the real estate industry. There is simply no stopping of the rising prices as the rush of residential and commercial projects continue their rise ahead.
